Designing Learning That Scales, Engages, and Delivers Results
Here is a quick glimpse of my portfolio
LMS Microlearning
(40%+ Productivity & 20% Less Time)
The problem:
At La Porte ISD, instructional staff were underusing the quiz-grade features in Teacher Access (the building LMS). Progress monitoring had gaps, and grading ate hours every week that should have gone back to teaching and learner support.
This wasn’t a “build more training content” problem. It was a procedural performance problem: people needed one clear, fast workflow they could use the same day — without waiting on IT.
Goals:
After the module, staff would be able to:
Enter quiz grades using the fastest workflow in Teacher Access
Follow step-by-step visual guidance without live support
Use a job aid as performance support after the training
Success meant more quiz grades submitted each week, less time spent grading, and strong post-training feedback — tracked in the LMS and by survey.
Approach:
Needs analysis — Reviewed LMS usage patterns in Teacher Access, gathered staff feedback, and mapped common pain points in the quiz-grade workflow.
Scope — Locked the module to one job: the fastest path for entering quiz grades (not every LMS feature).
Design & development — Built a ~5-minute module in Articulate Rise 360 with sequenced visuals and job aids; packaged to SCORM with WCAG 2.2 AA in mind.
Implementation — Deployed building-/district-wide through Teacher Access as part of professional development hours; tracked completion in LMS reports; briefed instructional leaders on monitoring progress and supporting questions.
Evaluation — Compared post-launch LMS behavior (submissions, time) with pre-training patterns and collected post-training satisfaction feedback.
Implementation:
The module was deployed district-wide via the LMS. Staff were encouraged to complete the module as part of their professional development hours, with usage tracked through LMS completion reports. I also provided brief guidance to instructional leaders on monitoring progress and supporting staff who had questions.
Results:
The microlearning solution had an immediate impact:
40% increase in weekly quiz grades submitted
20% reduction in grading time
30+ hours saved per week across the team
95% learner satisfaction based on post-training surveys
Reflection and Lessons Learned:
This project highlighted the effectiveness of targeted microlearning for procedural skills. Key lessons included:
Short, focused module with visual support significantly increases adoption of technical workflows
Integrating job aids directly into training reinforces skill transfer
Monitoring real usage data allows rapid evaluation of training impact and ROI
Tools Used:
Articulate Rise 360 · SCORM · WCAG 2.2 AA
